Paris vacation apartment rental in St Germain des Prés: Saint Germain Buci

Saint Germain des Prés is widely held to be the most desirable area of Paris. And rightly so, as Saint-Germain really does seems to have it all : the finest Parisian boutiques and restaurants, a buzzing ambiance day or night, fabulous architecture and an profoundly ingrained sense of history and culture that draws Paris' best antique dealers.

The well-healed locals are either furiously stylish, or cultured and/or arty. A promenade down the narrow local side streets reveals a wealth of fine restaurants, serving gourmet French cuisine. Every corner is a café terrace opportunity (with the famous Flore and Deux Magots cafés very close by), while at night you'll also find several stylish bars (such as L’Alcazar and Armani Café).

In Saint-Germain it's shopping galore, with France's couture labels setting the trends for the many smaller and oh-so-charming boutiques. Not forgetting the Bon Marché, the Left Bank department store that is so magical that you'll need that extra suitcase to take your purchases home!

The apartment is a few steps away from the daily and lively open-air market of the rue de Buci and is located in the same building as "La Derniere Goutte", one of the most famous wines stores in Paris. The Marche St Germain and its pool are just 2mn away.

This apartment is being completely renovated and restored.

It has 3 bedrooms with huge grand salon (or 2 bedrooms with huge salon and a separate studio).

The 8 large windows on front and four on courtyard provide the rooms with plenty of light and no obstructing buildings. All windows have beautiful iron window railings and are equipped with wood shutters on inside that can be closed for privacy and to block light.

The 18th century large fireplace has pride of place in the living room. This salon shows some stone walls and has kept some original herringbone style floors. A laundry room is equipped with a large capacity washer and dryer.

Great for three couples traveling together or two families, each bedroom is totally separate from others and has a full bathroom with rain head shower with top quality brushed nickel taps and fittings. One bedroom has large bath. Each bedroom is equipped with wireless internet, a separate telephone and air conditioning.

First (studio) bedroom: A studio with separate entrance or main entrance and original wood floors can be used as a television room as well as bedroom or office. It is furnished with a single bed that can pull out into a king and zip together or be used separately as two singles. There are also two big lovely chairs that turn into very comfortable single beds. The three doors between the studio and the apartment can make it very private if guests are traveling with children and want to have a place for children to watch TV and keep the living room for adults. The studio has two large windows with view of Abbey and the bathroom has one very large window.

Second (corner) bedroom: The corner bedroom has a queen bed, an ensuite bathroom with shower and small sink and toilet. There is also has a sink in the bedroom. This bedroom has kept its original wood floors, original wood hand carved eighteenth century moldings and original eighteenth century wood paneling on lower part of walls. Two huge windows overlook the Abbey and down to Le Deux Magots.

Third (back) bedroom : The back bedroom has windows overlooking the courtyard. It is furnished with two single beds that can be put together to make a king. This bedroom has kept its original wood floors, original wood beams on ceiling. There is a large bath in a nook of the bedroom, a shower vanity with sink and place to put make up on and blow dry hair. There is a separate toilet and washbasin.

Living room: A large antique gold mirror stands over the large eighteenth century fireplace which is fully functioning. The living-room is decorated with lovely French antique wall scones, an Aubusson tapestry and paintings. This room has two levels: the first level has the dining table; lower level is living area and kitchen. The dining room table has dark wood top with a wash on it and it has crossed legs that are color of walls. It folds away or can be moved around if guests are having a party.

One wall of salon holds the kitchen: it has pale cream polished concrete counters, stainless steel custom made sink, square gas cooktop with one electric burner for those not used to gas, extra quiet dishwasher under a counter fridge with cabinet, a large fridge with freezer and icemaker, microwave, oven, stainless steel hood for cooktop. All dishes and touches are as old French as possible to give the guests the feeling that they really are in France.
